Our Services
Styles
Back-to-Back couple massages are also offered (not tandem - please see details in pricing).
Relaxation Massage
Sometimes, gentle touch and contact is all that's needed. Relaxation Massage emphasizes alleviating mental stress with minimal focus on muscular treatment.
It allows the mind to enter a state of tranquility and initiates the process of emotional rejuvenation.
Therapeutic Massage
Therapeutic Massage emphasizes the application of various pressures and techniques to relieve tension and reduce pain.

This type of massage prioritizes the healing of muscular discomfort, although it may necessitate inducing some discomfort to achieve effective results.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage emphasizes intensive techniques where pressure is exerted using elbows, knuckles, knees, and the forearm 'blade'. While this may induce significant discomfort for some individuals to attain effective outcomes, it is always within the limits of tolerance through the use of deep beathing technqiues.
Cupping
Cupping uses suction over the skin to draw blood flow to targeted areas, helping to release deep tension and reduce inflammation.
This technique is especially effective for stubborn knots, chronic pain, and muscle recovery. The suction creates space between tissue layers, promoting healing and improving mobility.
While it may leave 'bruise staining', these circular marks are temporary and will usually fade within 3 to 7 days.
In extreme cases, marks may last longer.
Treatments
Pre/Postnatal
Pre/Postnatal massage caters to the specific physical needs associated with pregnancy and the recovery period following childbirth.
Throughout pregnancy, it alleviates back pain, hip discomfort, and swelling, while promoting proper alignment as the body undergoes changes to nurture new life.
Following delivery, it facilitates muscle recovery, diminishes tension resulting from nursing positions, and can contribute to postpartum healing.
All methods are modified to ensure safety and comfort.
Lymphatic Drainage
Lymphatic Drainage is the gentlest form of massage available, utilizing extremely light pressure on the skin to facilitate the movement of lymph through the lymphatic system.
When a deep or vigorous massage is applied to the lymphatic system, it may lead to the collapse of the initial lymphatic vessels, which can take as long as 24 hours to reopen and resume normal function.
The lymphatic system comprises a network of vessels and nodes that aid in the removal of excess fluid and waste from bodily tissues. Lymphatic Drainage Massage promotes the reduction of swelling and supports the natural elimination of metabolic waste.
This is not a full list, but a list of most commonly treated areas.
Specialties
Pediatric Massage (0 to 17) is also offered.
TMJD
TMJ Disorder (TMJD) involves dysfunction of the jaw joint and surrounding muscles, often causing pain, clicking, or difficulty with jaw movement.
Massage therapy can help by releasing tension in the jaw, neck, and facial muscles that contribute to symptoms. Gentle techniques targeting the masseter, temporalis, and surrounding areas can reduce pain, improve range of motion, and address the headaches and ear pain that often accompany TMJD.
For many clients, regular treatment provides significant relief from chronic jaw tension.
Brachial Plexus Impingement
Brachial Plexus Impingement occurs when nerves in the shoulder and neck become compressed, often causing pain, numbness, or tingling that radiates down the arm. This can result from poor posture, repetitive movements, or injury.
Massage therapy addresses the condition by releasing tension in the scalene, pectoral, and shoulder muscles that may be compressing the nerve pathway. Treatment focuses on restoring proper alignment, reducing inflammation, and improving nerve mobility.
Many clients experience relief from symptoms like arm weakness, shoulder pain, and the characteristic "pins and needles" sensation that extends into the hand.
Breast and Chest
Breast and Chest massage addresses tension in the pectoral muscles, which often contribute to shoulder, neck, and upper back pain.
This work can provide significant relief for those experiencing restricted movement or chronic tightness in the upper body. For new mothers, it can help with nursing-related tension and support lactation health.
Under Washington State law (WAC 246-830-555), After Life Massage therapists are certified to perform this therapeutic work.
All breast and chest massage is conducted with clear communication, proper paperwork, and strict professional boundaries to ensure client comfort and safety.

Due to clinic size and limited LMTs, we only offer back-to-back couples massages, not tandem.
During back-to-back couple's massages at our clinic, partners may wait in the lobby, go out shopping at the Totem Lake Mall,  or even visit the cafe across the street.
Due to clinic size, we do not suggest they remain in the room unless they are willing and able to move around to stay out of the therapist's direct path.

Our Story
After Life Massage was founded through the personal journey of healing
Following a divorce and various health issues that left everything feeling shattered, a decision had to be made - to surrender or to discover a new purpose. Massage therapy emerged as that purpose. In her late twenties, the owner returned to school, determined to reconstruct her life by mastering the art of healing touch.
The name symbolizes that journey. Life presents numerous unforeseen challenges - stress, tension, and physical discomfort. Once life has taken its toll, the process of healing must begin. After life, there IS hope for recovery. After Life, there is massage.
Those experiences now shape every session - by understanding what it means to need relief, to seek healing, and to fight for wellness.

Client Stories
With many lovely Google Reviews, here are a few of our favorites.
Aaron
L’Nai is an exceptionally skilled and knowledgeable massage therapist. Her strong yet intuitive touch creates a truly transformative experience in a comfortable and welcoming environment. Having received deep tissue massages for over a decade, I was impressed by how effectively L’Nai could target and release tension—delving deeper than any therapist I’ve worked with before, even from our very first session.
Note that she was careful to ask me how much pressure I could handle.
What truly sets her apart is her ability to educate while she works. L’Nai takes the time to explain the muscle groups she’s addressing and how they interconnect, which has been invaluable in enhancing my understanding of my body. I’ve been able to apply her insights to improve my stretching and workout routines with noticeable results.
Additionally, L’Nai consistently goes above and beyond, from demonstrating effective stretches to teaching me how to properly use kinesiology tape. She’s not only committed to providing immediate relief but also to helping me maintain and build upon the benefits of our sessions.
Highly recommended for anyone seeking a truly therapeutic and educational massage experience.
Jenny
I've been a client for about 1.5 years and have had a wonderful experience every time. L'Nai is friendly, personable, and easy to communicate with about my needs at each appointment. They introduced me to cupping which has become a favorite add-on of mine. In my time using Afterlife's services my pain has decreased significantly.
Their mobile option makes it comfortable and is so convenient. The new clinic space is lovely and has easy access and parking. Plus, the pricing can't be beat given the level of professionalism and individualized service you'll receive.
Arpana
For the past seven months, I've been receiving massages from L’Nai Cade, and each session has been exceptional. Right from the beginning, L’Nai took the time to understand my specific needs, ensuring that every massage was tailored to provide maximum relief.
Despite struggling with persistent neck and shoulder pain, L’Nai's massages have consistently delivered immediate and long-lasting results. Unlike previous experiences where the pain would inevitably return, L’Nai's technique has kept it at bay, requiring only significant strain or poor posture to trigger discomfort.
One of L’Nai's most remarkable qualities is her ability to deliver firm pressure without compromise. As someone who appreciates a strong massage, I've often been disappointed by therapists who couldn't meet my expectations. However, L’Nai's firm touch never fails to address my muscle tension effectively.
Moreover, L’Nai goes beyond just massage therapy; she's also an educator. Throughout our sessions, she takes the time to explain which muscles she's targeting and why, helping me gain a deeper understanding of my body's mechanics. Additionally, she generously shares extra tips and techniques, ensuring that I leave each session feeling not only physically satisfied but also empowered with newfound knowledge.
Thanks to L’Nai's expertise and genuine care, my search for an excellent massage therapist has come to an end. If you're seeking someone who is not only skilled but also compassionate and committed to your well-being, L’Nai Cade from After Life is the one to go to.

FAQs
Our most Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do you accept Insurance?
A: No, we do not accept any insurance. However, we can accept HSA/FSA cards (the latter requires a doctor's referral). We can also supply SuperBills to clients with referrals so that they may try to receive reimbursement by their insurance.

Q: How far will you travel for Mobile?
A: Upwards of 30-minutes from our base location (base location is not our Kirkland clinic).
Q: Do you wear masks?
A: Upon request, we will wear a mask as long as the client is also wearing a mask during their session.

Q: Will there be paperwork?
A: Yes, under state law we are required to have every new client fill out paperwork that includes our general intake and questionnaire. Refusal to fill these out properly will lead to cancellation of the appointment. We ask that new clients arrive 10 to 15 minutes early for their first appointment to avoid losing time on their massage due to the time it takes to complete the paperwork.

A: Our business number is: 425-652-5646
If you have already booked, you will receive a confirmation e-mail that has our number.
